Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey
Battle of the divas! Tensions between the newly minted American Idol judges exploded in October, when a tape showing Nicki Minaj cursing out Mariah Carey during an Idol audition made its way onto TMZ. Multiple sources confirmed that Minaj threatened, “If I had a gun I'd shoot that f---ing b-tch” as she walked off the set, while an Idol source told People. Carey "has been saying little things to jab at Nicki from day one of shooting.” Bottom line? Millions will turn in to see the duo in action once Idol premieres in January.
Jon Hamm vs. Kim Kardashian
Mad Men star Jon Hamm infuriated reality superwoman Kim Kardashian when he told Elle U.K. that, “We're at a place where the idea of being ‘elite' is somehow considered negative. Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated." Kim tweeted back that "we're all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates 'stupid' is in my opinion careless." Hamm later clarified his comments to E! News, saying he didn’t mean to dis her specifically. “What I said was meant to be more on pervasiveness of something in our culture, not personal.” Hmmm....is that explanation supposed to make things better?
Olivier Martinez & Halle Berry vs. Gabriel Aubry
In a Turkey Day shocker, Gabriel Aubry (Halle Berry’s baby daddy) and Olivier Martinez (Halle’s fiancee) got into a serious fist fight while Aubry was dropping off their 4-year-old daughter Nahla for the holiday. Tensions had been simmering between the trio for months, and Berry had recently been denied permission to move their daughter to France. Aubry filed a restraining order against Martinez shortly after the fight (which he later dropped) and according to TMZ the document claims Martinez screamed to Aubry during the fight "we called the cops," and that when they show up, "you're going to tell them that you're the one who attacked me, or I'm going to kill you." Gulp.
Wendy Williams vs. Beyonce
Wendy Williams managed to piss off her own audience -- and us! -- when she announced on her show that Beyonce "sounds like she’s got a fifth-grade education, she can’t talk." When the crowd booed she replied "excuse me, I just said I’m a fan but we have to call a spade a spade," and said she’d be turning on the closed captioning to watch Bey’s upcoming HBO documentary. No word from Sasha Fierce’s camp. This isn’t the first time the daytime host has questioned the pop diva. Last October, Williams speculated whether Beyonce’s baby bump was real, and the National Enquirer reported that those comments irked the expectant couple.
Piers Morgan vs. Madonna
The ongoing battle between Madonna and Piers Morgan has us asking just one question -- why? It appears the CNN host has a pathological hatred for the Material Girl, which he demonstrated earlier this year when he appeared on Chelsea Lately and trashed her Super Bowl performance. "It was like watching your mad drunken aunt at Christmas! She was gruesome. I don't like the woman, and she doesn't like me." He then got into a Twitter war with her manager, Guy Oseary. It appears their conflict dates back to Morgan’s days as a British tabloid editor, although Madonna’s rep claimed in 2010 that her Madgesty "doesn’t know who Piers Morgan is."
Chris Brown vs. Miranda Lambert
Chris Brown understandably racked up his share of enemies after allegedly beating on Rihanna, but we never would have guessed which one would be the most vocal: Miranda Lambert. The girl-next-door country star lashed out at Brown on Twitter shortly after the R&B singer performed twice at the Grammys and nabbed an award. "He beat on a girl ... Not cool that we act like that didn't happen,” she wrote, per Us Weekly. A short time later, Lambert disparagingly referenced him at a concert before singing a song about domestic violence. Brown shot back via Twitter, "Using my name to get publicity? I love it!"
Lindsay Lohan vs. Amanda Bynes
There’s nothing sadder than watching two formerly successful child stars reduced to troubles with the law and bitter sniping, but that’s exactly what happened this year between Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes. LiLo lashed out at Bynes after the What I Like About You star was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run charges, tweeting "Why did I get put in jail and a Nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?" Meanwhile, a Bynes pal told Us Weekly "she obsessively hates Lindsay." Meanwhile, Lohan’s troubles just got worse last month when she was arrested and charged with assault for allegedly hitting a woman in a nightclub.
Anderson Cooper vs. Star Jones
Star Jones can count the ladies of The View and half the cast of Celebrity Apprentice among her enemies, and this year she added another celeb to that elite list: newsman and daytime talk show host Anderson Cooper. Shortly after Cooper came out in July, Jones sniped on the Today show that he confirmed his sexuality "for ratings." Cooper later admitted on his show that her comments "did kind of annoy me" -- with reason, he then jabbed right back: "I seem to recall [Star] hocking her wedding every single day to get free products when she was on The View. Yikes! In response, Jones tweeted, "I was wrong. @andersoncooper didn't come out as a ratings ploy. He used ME talking about him coming out @todayshow as a ratings ploy. #mybad."
Jaleel White vs. Kym Johnson
Everyone’s favorite nerd Steve Urkel, a.k.a. Jaleel White reportedly earned the nickname Jerkel backstage on Dancing with the Stars earlier this year for his not-nice attitude to pretty much everyone. Things came to a head in March when he reportedly lashed out at pro partner Kym Johnson after he stepped on her foot during a rehearsal and he thought she overreacted to the pain. Other dancers stepped in to diffuse the situation. White claimed the controversy was overblown and blamed the media (I’m not used to all this tabloid stuff) while Johnson said at the time, "this has been a stressful week for us, and people have stressful weeks."
Joan Rivers vs. Rihanna
Joan Rivers infuriated Rihanna after the pop star admitted to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves the R&B bad boy who beat her up. "Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it's MY turn to slap her," Rivers tweeted. Rihanna wasn’t amused and shot back, "@Joan_Rivers wow u really do get slow when you're old huh?" She added a "Slap on some diapers" tweet for good measure. Rivers then got all grandmotherly on RiRi, tweeting “Honey, @Rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he’ll hit you again. Read the statistics." But Rivers also extended the olive branch, tweeting that she’s welcome on Fashion Police anytime.
